Thanks Tablecloth – Month of Thanks-Giving Ideas

IMG_3304We have seen variations on this simple idea a few places, and it is another that we will be trying out this Thanksgiving holiday.

The idea: Get a plastic, paper or cloth tablecloth that you can write on (cloth would last longest), give each person at the table a suitable marker or crayon, and have them draw and write down a note of thanks or a prayer for this year. Read them off (or have others guess what the picture stand for – a mini game of Pictionary). Be sure to sign your name and put the date/year next to your note. Have extended family or guests at your table? By all means, include them for a rich record of past celebrations. Smaller kids? Have them trace their handprints and watch how they grow from one Thanksgiving to another.

If you are able to preserve the tablecloth from year to year (probably best with a cloth or linen), the tablecloth will gain in meaning and memories over time.
