Review of Books of the Bible At-a-Glance by Teach Sunday School

To truly understand the greatest book ever written, the Bible, we need to understand the overall themes, who were the authors, who they were writing to, and how the books fit historically into history.

Our family has started using Books of the Bible At-a-Glance by Teach Sunday School to deepen our understanding of the Bible.

History, intregue, prophesy, poetry, and exciting stories, the Bible is a one-of-a-kind book. Help your students get to know it better!

For this review, our family was given a digital copy of Books of the Bible At-a-Glance.

What is Books of the Bible At-a-Glance?

Christians need to know at least the basics of each book of the bible. Today, more than ever, Christians are challenged to defend Biblical truths. Each person needs to have a practical knowledge of the Scriptures. Books of the Bible At-a-Glance can be a wonderful resource for you and your family!

Every page is a summary sheet about one Bible book. This made it easy for me to share. The page is well designed and not cluttered, which made it easy to read and discuss. As a printable, I was able to share it with students in a homeschool class I teach.

Since it comes as a PDF file, it is ready to go whenever you are.

This curriculum can help you lead students through the Bible while identifing the themes. It can be used to teach Sunday School, to choose verses that are important to memorize, and to discuss stories and issues that are so important for us all to understand!

What is included in Books of the Bible At-a-Glance?

Each page is filled with valuable and interesting information!

Along with the book title, who authored it, and when it was written, Bible At-a-Glance also includes what themes are covered in the book and the time period it addresses.

The “Claims to Fame” section tells what the Bible book is well known for. This is so useful as a brief summary.

The “Famous Stories and Verses” get you excited to read the book and hear more.

The “Important Point about the Book” section summarizes some of the lessons we can learn from.

How did our family use Books of the Bible At-a-Glance?

I used this curriculum in a homeschool co-op class I teach that goes through the whole Bible, book by book, over 2 years. Each week, using the Books of the Bible At-a-Glance, we discussed the major themes, important verses, and famous stories. This enhansed my curriculum and gave students a great summary of each book.

The “Important Points about the Book” is a helpful way to begin discussions.

For the letters in the New Testament, one section talked about the problems and issues that the book addresses. This was a great resource when I was preparing for class.

Just a little note of caution

Parents and teachers need to preview the summaries before passing them out to students. I noticed a few things.

First, on the Genesis sheet, Bible At-a-Glance mentions that the first 12 chapters are about “prehistory.” This is a term used by people who don’t believe that God created the universe. As Christians, we know that there is no prehistory since God tells us what happened beginning on day one. The first 12 chapters of Genesis should be titled “Creation.”

Other sheets mention “Rahab the harlot,” which is difficult to explain to younger students. Judas’ suicide is pointed out. Some of these issues are tricky and should be handled with care. Please prepare yourself ahead of time if you are going to discuss some of the more delicate issues.

For my homeschool class, I crossed the information I didn’t feel was age appropriate for my students and wrote in a different topic I wanted to discuss with them. So it was still an informative tool for us.
