Review of Guitar 360 Method

For years I have been looking for online guitar lessons for my two sons. We have finally found one we love! Guitar 360 Method offers the Semester 1 Bundle, which includes the Absolute Beginner Course and bonus Songs.

For this review, our family received free access to the Semester 1 Bundle with 13 lessons, the Absolute Beginner Course, and the bonus materials from Guitar 360 Method.

Are you an ambitious beginner who wants to know the “whys” and “hows” behind the music? Have you been playing the guitar for a while, but want to understand better how it all fits together? Are you a creative player who wants to be able to write your own music or complement other players? Then the Guitar 360 Method is for you!

What is the Guitar 360 Method?

Confidence, Freedom and Creativity: These three words sum up the goals of the Guitar 360 Method. Teach students to be creative on the guitar, not just play songs. Teach them to understand what makes up a scale, chord, or rhythm and hear how they all fit together. These online video guitar lessons create a complete understanding of how everything relates so students can create their own music, play well with others, and find their person musical voice.

Kris, the host of Guitar 360 Method, explains that this is a Cyclical Pedagogy way of learning to play guitar. Simply put, it means you revisit the concepts you are learning as your skill and knowledge increases. This allows students to play and write their own music right away.

What is included in the Guitar 360 Method?

The Semester 1 Bundle includes the Absolute Beginner bonus content plus the 13 weekly lessons of Semester 1.

The Absolute Beginner lessons are a great introduction to the guitar, fundamentals about your instrument, and a review for those who have been playing guitar already. They teach picking and beginner chords as well as how to get the best sound from your instrument.

The beginner and semester 1 lessons teach both acoustic and electrical guitar.

The weekly lessons can be completed at your own pace. Each lessons is split into several shorter videos to allow students to stop and practice before moving to the next portion. This allows you to feel comfortable with the skill.

Semester 1 has 13 weekly lessons that cover rhythm, ear training, chords, scales, music theory, and much more. It builds on the Introductory Lessons, so students should go through them, even if it is a quick review.

Each lesson provides weekly goals to measure progress. And each ends with guided practice, which builds on the previous week’s materials. The Cyclical Pedagogy shows students how their new knowledge fits with what they already know. It shows the connections between the musical elements so students can have the freedom to confidently play creatively.

Some lessons have PDF downloadable files. You can print these out and have a reference of scales, chords, and strumming patterns.

Kris has a comment section and encourages students to connect with him there or through social media. We can ask questions, leave comments, and offer suggestions.

How did our family use the Guitar 360 Method?

Two of my sons are taking the Guitar 360 Method. Then, I caught the guitar fever and began learning myself! I have always been intimidated about learning an instrument, but the way Kris teaches is so inviting, I couldn’t help myself.

The Guitar 360 Method keeps track of student progress, so we were able to pause the lesson for practice, then pick up right where we left off. And because the lessons are separated into short segments, it was easy for us to go back and review or re-watch portions. I was able to use this to tailor the lessons to the individual needs of both my boys.

Kris really made the learning fun! His sincere love of the guitar shone through and was infectious. My boys picked up on it and were encouraged.

We frequently stopped the lessons and practiced until we got the hang of the technique or material. One son was able to move much quicker through the lessons because he had a few guitar lessons previously. Yet, even at different ability levels, they both enjoyed the lessons.

I would recommend watching the Welcome lessons in semester one before beginning the beginner lessons. These teach you the user interface, what to expect to learn, and Kris’ teaching style. This information would be helpful to have before beginning Week 1.

So overall, Kris’ style, charm, and skill make Guitar 360 Method a winner!
