The Children's Museum of Denver offers a variety of exciting playscapes designed for children from newborn through age eight. These play areas and exhibits engage children physically at the same time as they stimulate their minds and imaginations. Playscapes include a store, basketball court, lego room, playhouse, invention studio, and bugs underground. Children can dress in available costumes and all materials for crafts are included. Open 7 days a week. Monday through Friday 9am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm Wednesday evenings have been extended from 9am to 7:30. Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Easter Sunday. Museum closes early on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Explore unique ideas to build a castle, make your own jumping bullfrog to take home and more. Dress as your favorite fairy tale character if you wish. Tickets to this Family Showcase are $1. Family Showcase: Arvada Center Dance February 27th 11 a.m. Bring your little ones who love to boogie and introduce them to all kinds of dancing, from jazz to ballet, with performers of all ages. Tickets to this Family Showcase are $1. Family Showcase: Colorado Children’s Chorale March 6th 11:00 a.m. Golden voices will fill the theater for a performance of “Coo Coo Cachoo!” Family Showcase: Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory March 20th 11:00 a.m. Learn about the many birds of Colorado and make your own bird feeders to take home. Museum Sleepover* If you love playing in the Museum during the day, you’re going to love spending the night! We invite you and your family to spend the night on our fire truck, inside the anthill, or even on a lily pad. Enjoy a private playtime, take a behind-the-scenes tour and watch a movie as we all settle in for the night. Dinner and breakfast will be provided. When: Saturday, February 20th – Sunday, February 21 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 a.m. Tickets: $50 per person** RSVP by Friday, February 12th *Children must be accompanied by an adult. We ask that each adult be responsible for no more than two children. We are making homemade lava lamps with bubbles of water in oil. Facilitated ARTS a la Carte - Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. Cauldron Collages Eye of newt and toe of frog, wool of bat and tail of dog… for this spell we’ve got a good start…who says witch’s brew can’t be art? Facilitated ARTS a la Carte Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. Birds of a Feather Penguins, peacocks and pelicans galore. Some birds swim and some birds soar. Join the gaggles of geese and pairs of parrots as they team up with many other feathered friends. We’ll combine beaks, talons, wings, and more to ensure each new bird is wackier than the next! This program promotes fine motor skills, arts, science and literacy. ToddlerTime Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. Jungle Safari It's a jungle out there! Join us on a special safari where we'll make binoculars, explore the jungle and identify exotic animals. This program promotes large and fine motor skills, speech, arts, math and literacy. Clubhouse Capers Mondays and Fridays at 2:30 p.m. Kooky Creatures Calling all creatures great and small… and weird! Join us as we learn about some wonderfully wild and kooky creatures! This program promote science, imagination and arts. Make Believe Matinee Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. Shadow Safari We are turning the theater into a giant shadow screen so we can practice the ancient art of shadow puppetry. Super Science Sunday(Sundays at 3:00 p.m. Worm World This month we're digging in the dirt to meet some wiggly and wonderful worms! Backyard Explorers Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. The Painted Pond Join us as we take a closer look at the official reptile of Colorado--the Western Painted Turtle. Get the facts and hear some of the folklore about these easygoing swimmers. This program promotes science, arts and cultural awareness. PlayWorks Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. Project Pets Having a pet is a lot of fun, but it can also be a BIG responsibility. Come share your favorite pet stories while we learn all about different pets and how to care for them. There might even be a special animal guest to play with.
