780 Vondelpark Drive Colorado Springs, CO 80907 Phone Number: (719) 531-5867 Website Address: http://artsportsworld.com Office Hours: 9am through 7pm Activities, Programs, & ServicesAnytime Activity Ideas: Open Gym times: 13yrs and under: Monday - Friday 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm All ages: Saturday- 12pm-2pm Middle Schoolers: Friday 7-9pm High Schoolers: Friday 9-11pm Cost: $5 an hour. Programs Offered: We offer DiaperGym which is walking to age 3yrs. Preschool 3-5yrs Young Tumbling 5-8yrs Tumbling 9-12yrs Teen/Adult classes.....so a little something for everyone!! Registration is always ongoing. We keep our ratios small enough that a child is given thorough instructor attention from day one and can really start anytime. Prices vary according to age and duration of class. Services Offered: Our afterschool program will be starting up again with District 11 and District 20. Right now, we pick up from Chipeta, Trailblazer, Rockrimmon, Jackson, and Howbert. This program is restricted to 14 kids on any given day so space is limited. Our afterschool kids are picked up from their schools, brought to the gym where instructors work with them on homework. And then they are given supervised freetime on the equipment. At 4:30pm, the kids are given an option of classes to participate in. Pick up is as late as 6:30pm. The day rate for this $18, and the week rate is $75. Why keep the kids sitting while they wait for mom and dad when you can get afterschool care and a fun extracurricular activity rolled into the deal for about the same cost?World's largest trampoline gymnastics center where your child's success never depends upon another child's failure. Memberships available. Open gym time available for members and non-members. Themes, Exhibitions, Longterm Events: This upcoming school year, we are especially excited about our new preschool program. The kids will still be learning the same skills (all based on USAG Olympic curriculum) but the way they learn is going to make it so the kids can relate visual images to what they are learning. They will be able to retain more and will have a blast doing it! The program is called StoryGym where the first ten minutes of the class our coach will have selected a children's book to read to the class (can never get too much reading!). After the story, the class will use characters and settings and actions from the book to build on skills and progressions in their gymnastics. The kids will go home with a handout for Mom and Dad about what they read, and what skills they worked on. By encouraging both the love of reading and the joy of movement, our little gymnasts will look forward to each new adventure, and our parents will be thrilled with the new coordination, balance, agility that they see in their preschoolers! Now even though we are excited about the new preschool program, we are just as excited about the classes for our older kids. More and more, we are seeing this sport in particular grow in popularity with both genders. The facts that it has now seen three Olympics, and ArtSports is the biggest in the state for the sport has not escaped the attention for the athletes looking to reach for more (but still have fun doing it!). An equally exciting trend that we are seeing is many of our athletes are taking classes with us to enhance their alternate chosen sport. Good air awareness, the ability to tumble, to fall, to dive, and to have good body control is something any sport benefits from, and we are proud to be a huge part of that cross training effort in Colorado Springs. In addition to our gymnastic classes we also offer Circus Arts and Dance. Circus Arts focuses on Balance (stilt walking, slack rope, balance ball, unicycle), Prop Manipulation (juggling, plate spinning, poi spinning), and Acrobatic Tumbling (much like what you would see on Cirq Du Soleil). Our circus kids are asked regularly to perform publicly so these classes are perfect for those loving a stage! The circus program does require some tumbling background so beginners would start in one of our gymnastic classes first. Our dance program offers traditional style dance (ballet, tap, jazz) as well as the more modern (hip hop, belly dancing, and more!). Our dance program is for kids 3yrs to adult. And the best part of all of this, is we do FREE trial classes. Costs/Admission Rates: One hour of open gym costs $7 per person for non-members and $5 for members. Call for costs of various classes. Love Diaper Gym Class!, Saturday, 18 April 2009 Written by J Educational Value Educational Experience: We attend Diaper Gym with Miss Cindy. She is an amazing teacher who interacts with each child. The class is suited for each child's learning level (walking to 3yrs). She keeps them learning but doesn't push them if they are not ready.Educational Enhancement Ideas: Would love to see a Monday or Tuesday morning class if possible. Class structure could improve. Notes Glad we had, wish we had...: glad we bring water and a snack for afterwards (they work up an appetite).
