Activities, Programs, & ServicesView Events for this ListingEvents Offered: The Colorado Springs Philharmonic is well known for its annual Nutcracker tradition on Thanksgiving weekend. Families flock to the Pikes Peak Center to see the Philharmonic and the San Diego Ballet bring the Nutcracker to life. Programs Offered: Masterworks Philharmonic Pops Vanguard Philharmonic Kids Holiday Classics Vivaldi's Four Seasons Conductor in the Classroom The Colorado Springs Philharmonic is proud to offer area high school orchestras and bands the opportunity to play under the baton of Music Director Lawrence Leighton Smith or Associate Conductor Thomas Wilson in a schoolday rehearsal. Visits are available beginning in January and continuing through the end of the school year. A time block of approximately 45 minutes is the norm and every attempt will be made to accommodate specific rehearsal schedules. Maestros Smith and Wilson will also be available to visit general classrooms at any grade level. Concert Discussions: Pre-Concert Lectures and Applause series programs. Services Offered: For classrooms and home school families, the CS Philharmonic offers two concerts packed with great music and great fun, not to mention some learning on the way. Uncle Wilber's new World Tour will be on Oct. 28-29, 2009 9:30am and 11am on both days For grades 3-5, but open to all. Uncle Wilber takes a break from Acacia Park to make his stage debut! He meets composer Antonin Dvorak and learns a lesson in leadership. Uncle Wilber's Downtown Band will be on April 20, 2009 9:30am and 11am For grades K-2, but open to all. Uncle Wilber magically appears from inside a piano, along with an entire symphony orchestra! To register for either of these concerts, go to the pre-registration form at www.csphilharmonic.org/education/philharmonic-kids Themes, Exhibitions, Longterm Events: 3 Philharmonic Kids Concerts at Pikes Peak Center Sundays at 2:30 pm Fun in the lobby starts at 1:30pm Family concerts are now reserved seating instead of general admission.
